The Rites of Passage (ROPES) program is one of LaFamilia's most impactful initiatives for young boys from disadvantaged backgrounds. In partnership with Nawiri Organisation, we identify boys who need guidance and direction in their lives.
The program is a comprehensive Christian boys-to-men mentorship that emphasizes morally upright and Godly upbringing of young men. It combines cultural traditions with Christian values to create a holistic development experience.
Participants go through various stages of the program, including life skills training, leadership development, spiritual formation, and the traditional circumcision rite conducted in a safe medical environment.
"Many of these boys have no male role models in their lives," explains one of the program coordinators. "ROPES provides them with mentors who show them what it means to be a responsible, God-fearing man."
The results have been transformative. Boys who have gone through the program show improved behavior, better academic performance, and a stronger sense of purpose. Many have gone on to become mentors themselves, creating a positive cycle of influence.
The partnership with Nawiri Organisation has been instrumental in the program's success, providing resources, trained facilitators, and ongoing support for the participants.
We continue to expand the program's reach, identifying more boys who can benefit from this life-changing experience.
